2022年6月18日下午,一带一路研究院非洲研究中心举办主题为“可持续发展及创新方案”的跨学科研讨会。本次研讨会是本学年第二次跨学科研讨会。研讨会以线上和线下相结合的形式进行。研讨会由非洲研究中心主任高畅教授(Augustin F. C. Holl)主持。现场汇报主题涵盖海洋生物学、国际海事法、经济学、比较文学和环境经济学多个学科。来自厦门大学、中南财经大学、天津师范大学等多所高校的非洲籍博士生参与此次研讨会。
The second and last Africa Research Center (ARC) multidisciplinary seminar, both off and Online, took place on June 18, 2022 from 2:00 to 6:30 pm. The theme of the session, “Creating Sustainable and Innovative Solutions through Active Research” featured the 2022 ARC Fellows PhD dissertations research. The disciplinary fields represented in the session include marine biology, international maritime law, economics, comparative literature, and environmental economics.

高畅教授表示,他希望非洲研究中心的年轻学者们能够打开更广阔的视野。在过去两年,尽管面临全球新冠疫情带来的巨大挑战,在座的年轻学者们仍然支持非洲研究中心的多学科研究和交流。世界正在经历一场巨大的变革,博士生们未来的研究思路也势必受到影响。他希望年轻的非裔学者们能够坚持一带一路研究院非洲研究中心的宗旨,通过自己的研究为促进世界人民的相互理解、为世界的和平和繁荣做出贡献。希望大家无论走到哪里,都能始终在职业生涯中秉持这一信念。
Augustin F. C. Holl, ARC director gave an introductory speech putting the 2022 ARC Fellows achievements into broader perspectives. They are talented young scholars who supported the ARC multidisciplinary agenda during the last two academic years despite the great challenges posed by the global Covid-19 pandemic. The World international scene is experiencing a seismic shift that has to be factored in the thinking of the 2022 PhD in their future projects. The ARC is designed to contribute to increased mutual understanding through data driven research in order to promote a peaceful and prosperous world for all. It is hope that the new doctors will carry that message all along their professional life wherever they live.
第一个汇报题目为“评估太平洋鲍鱼(Haliotis discus hannai)及其杂交种对盐度压力的反应”,由海洋和地球科学学院的Grace A. Boamah博士对盐度变化对鲍鱼种群及其对水产养殖的影响进行分析。
The first one, entitled “Evaluation of the response to salinity stress in the Pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) and its hybrids” by Dr. Grace A. Boamah of the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences analyzes the impact of changing salinity on abalone populations and its consequences on aquaculture.

The second presentation by Dr. Sabrina Hasan of the South China Sea Institute addressed “Challenges to the State Jurisdiction over Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships under the Law of the Sea and Ways Forward”.

Dr. Maruf, from the South China Sea Institute, offered the third presentation entitled “Tackling Anthropogenic Underwater Noise through the Convention on Biological Diversity: Progress and Future Development”Anthropogenic underwater noise is a contemporary and global problem of marine pollution that may cause harmful impacts to many types of marine animals, ranging from whales and other cetaceans to smaller creatures such as fish and invertebrates.

来自中南财经政法大学经济学院的Philip A. Atitianti博士在线上做了题为“了解公众对加纳政治警戒主义的同情心的决定因素”的汇报。他对比研究了特定政治暴力的根源和衍生的公众态度。
Dr. Philip A. Atitianti, from the School of Economics, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law fourth online contribution entitled “Understanding the Determinants of Public Sympathy Towards Political Vigilantism in Ghana” investigates the roots causes of a certain kind of political violence and the derived contrasted attitude of the public.

第五个汇报来自天津师范大学比较文学与世界文学系的Mercy M. Kathina博士,题目是“非洲女权主义方法在加强妇女参与以及实现可持续与平等非洲中的重要性”,这一汇报强调了非洲女权主义的深厚根基和特殊性。
The fifth presentation also online and entitled “Importance of African Feminist Approach in Enhancing Women Participation and Inclusion in Attaining Sustainable and Equitable Africa” was offered by Dr. Mercy M. Kathina, from the Comparative and World Literature, of Tianjin Normal University. She forcefully highlighted the deep roots and specifity of African feminism.

第六篇汇报文章来自厦门大学管理学院的Hermas Abudu博士。他的题目为“气候变化和能源政策管理的挑战:中东和非洲国家的经验”。
The sixth and last contribution to the seminar, entitled “Climate Change and Energy Policy Management Challenges: The Experience of the Middle East and African Countries” was given by Dr. Hermas Abudu, from the School of Management, Xiamen University examines the many implications of the commitment to reduce carbon emission with a focus on developing countries from Africa and the Middle-East.

研讨会最后,高畅教授为参与本学年研讨会汇报的年轻博士生们授予证书,以表彰他们在新冠疫情的影响下仍然积极参与学术活动,坚持自己的研究。Robert L. Kaniki总结道:“像非洲研究中心这样的多学科研讨会是大学生态系统中一个难能可贵的交流平台,对于建立同窗之间的友谊和联系非常必要”。
The fellows who have run this program were awarded certificates in recognition of the significant contributions to the ARC activities during last difficult two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. The discussions were as usual passionate and friendly. Robert L. Kaniki gave the final remarks, insisting of importance of such forum as the multidisciplinary seminar to generate a space of scientific for scientific exchange across the university ecosystem, and building comradery and collegiality.
